Okay so before I left for a ride today I checked my bike to make sure it was charging and it was so I left and rode about 10 miles then parked it and went to a party and hopped back on it after about 7 hours and rode back home and when I was almost home it was acting like it was not wanting to go and when I pulled in the driveway it died. Now just to let you know I have replaced the rectifier with a used one from cycle recycle 1 but I didn't check it before I put it in im beginning to think that I got a bad one. So what do you guys think

Yeah I had talked to the guy at cycle recycle 2 and he told me that you could buy a thousand used ones and only have one good one im thinking that the reason why when I tested it earlier it said it was charging is because it hadn't warmed up yet and then once it warmed up the diods got warm and wouldn't work anymore I don't know

Yea I hope you find out. Did the guy say whether you could switch out if it's bad?

No you can't exchange used electrical parts so if it is bad then im out 30 bucks

The next time I get one I would just spend the money to get a brand new one

Learn how to check it with a simple multimeter. It's pretty easy. Then you won't be gambling when you buy a used part. Larry.

Okay so with the bike running I tested the the wires that are coming from the rectifier to the plug and im getting power out of the three yellow wires and from the green. Now this plug connection is the one that connects to the plug that is coming from the stator and im still not getting a charge does this mean my stator is bad

Does anyone know how to test a stator to see if its good or not?

Does anyone know how to test a stator to see if its good or not? Use your multimeter and measure battery voltage with the bike turned off, you should get around 12 volts. Next start the bike and test it again while it is running. You should now be getting 13-14.5 volts. You may also consider checking your rectifier. Do you have a manual for the bike? If so it should say exactly how to do it.

I am getting 12 with the bike off and when I start it it stays at 12 and will eventually start dropping Hopefully changing out that headlight bulb like we talked about will take care of your charging problem. I am guessing that light has a 60/55w H4 in it. If it is in fact an H4, here is a 35/35w. www.bikebandit.com/product/A5221911I have a feeling it will help, also changing that tail light to led should also bring down the amps you are using a little more. Let us know how it goes if you do change that. Chris
