Aw shucks man thanks! I pulled apart my spare motor and the oil spanner was caked with sludge and the cases had a whole mess of metal shavings in them. I'm glad I got that new motor.

engine you sold me? Upon inspection, the spark plug threads are a little stripped. It won't give me any problems right away, but I got a thread repair kit to take care of it so I don't run in to any trouble down the road. I guess I won't have it done by the end of the week but I want to make sure it's done right.

I am not. I just have this little 360. I got both the bike and the spare motor from cycle recycle in ft. square.
I went to Vermont for a week and I'm tying up the motor tomorrow...then I pick up my fiance's cm200t. Gonna do a little work on that and these bikes are what we'll drive away from our wedding.

Ran into more problems tonight while putting the top end together. We ran through the gears one more time and it kept getting stuck in 4th and wouldn't budge. We checked everything outside to make sure it wasn't the clutch...but we ended up having to pull the cases back apart. We scratched our heads for about 45 minutes trying different things then saw...ONE sprocket was flipped around. Flipped it, and it ran through the gears fine.
So now we're putting the top end on and calling it a night (after 1 am). I pray tomorrow we can get it timed and done.

Ok so I'm having a real bad issue with the timing. The manual says to line up the LT mark on the alternator to the mark on the stater, and the lines on the cam sprocket should be flush with the top of the head. No matter what we do (tried moving links and changing tension) we can't figure out why it won't work.
It's literally right in the middle of two links. If I could move the chain half a link it would line up perfectly. I'll post a picture later so you can see what I'm talking about. Any help is appreciated.

Is it that way after the tensioner is installed?

Yeah we tried pretty much everything. Tensioner in, tenstioner out, adjusting the bottom tension...and as i researched it I found that there are a few other people that did it their lines didn't line up and it didn't give it any issues. My guess is it's fine because of the pictures and other projects I've seen, but we didn't want to put the head on without knowing it was right.

Yeah, I'd just make sure to put them close as possible and it will be OK.

I spent my morning before work getting a little more work done. So nice to have a motor in it again. Starting to look complete. Just some tweaking and electric work and done. Attachments:
