Getting there. Need to do a worm gear adjustment still, clutch isnt stopping it from rollin. Still need to fasten the seat, going to bend some alum strips. Install the alum headlight brackets (hand-made). Swap the rear disc pads. Possibly remove the old starter, not wanting to dive into that until I have to. Dual Interceptor dp calipers on the front and a matching one on the rear now. Runs great 3 kicks cold, 1 warm. It seems to be smoking more out of the left cyclinder than the right. If its rings Ill just wait till I can get the 750 kit. Attachments:

Oh changed up the pegs with interceptor mounts and peg levers and such. Need to make a shift linkage rod for the new setup. I have a cut front fender (it was cracked and dented) trimmed it up and itll be going back on the front as well. Attachments:

Before I took off to see my new ladies piece of country paradise I managed to get down the road and back on the xs. Seems I still need to center up the calipers a bit more, very little brakes was kinda of scary. Ran great until I hit about 6k and the only culprit I can tell is vaccum plug popped off the intake manifold. Ill need to tighten the jugs down to, started leaking oil from the bottom of right jug. Best part of the story... I flew past a sheriff, no tags, no papers and waved to him. Just my luck that was close. haha

I was talking with a guy last night while getting a beer after some long hours. He was so proud of his 08 105th Anniversary Sportster that has alligator and ostrich leathering and 24k gold inlays. You know I quickly asked how many times hes ridden it this year. His reply.. 3.

I know I have the low idle charging issue, thinking about hughs handbuilt pma. They say it can be ran batteryless with a small capacitor.
Has anyone used this system?
If I pull the trigger on it I might as well just hide all the electronics under the seat and drop the box.

Hey Tag, I put Hughs PMA on my 79 and havent had a single hickup. Was one of the easiest installs I've ever seen. Comes with everything you need. I have about 100 miles on it so far, hopeing to go out this afternoon. I have no worries about the charging system at all.

Does it come with the capacitor? I know your still running the battery right? Probably have to do some more research on the batteryless.

The capacitor is already on the bike under the back bone. The only reason I use a battery is for the starter. If you use kick start only you dont need a battery.

Interesting! Ive got the starter issue too, supposeldy just a spring adjustment, thinking about just taking it off though. Saves weight right?

Removing the starter will definitely save weight. No starter,no battery. Ordered a new gear and spring 2 weeks ago for the starter but found out the gears are defective so i have to wait a little longer.

I give you mine if you want for spares. Maybe a weld here or there for payment?

Have not taken apart yet, but when I do ill look at the gear and if its not chewed up ill just replace the spring which ive read will fix the problem. If you need something welded just bring it by,beer usually works for payment.
