I'm a waiver, but i have to say like shannon I don't wave to people that don't wear helmets.
also my pet peeves. Harleys in general. Retardedly loud pipes dudes on goldwings/cruisers blaring music at stop lights subwoofers that make your trunk rattle. people telling me what I need to do to my bike before i tell them anything about it. people that look at my blue pipes and go "MAN THAT THING IS LEAN." Shutup, its been that way since i got it, runs fine now. People that ride retarded on the interstate. or well just ride retarded in general. Wheelies are overrated. people that think chevy's are the best car on the planet. ummm i could continue.

People that pass you at 70 plus then cut over and stop short in front of you and cause you to lock up your brakes and the poeple behind you to slam on thiers so you hope you dont get sandwiched on between them.....

I know I sound like a Harley hater sometimes. I am not as much a Harley hater as I am a hater of some of the jack asses that ride them. (please notice I said some, not all). Most everyone I meet that is into vintage motorcycles would do anything to help out a fellow motorcyclist and that is one of the things I love about this group or the guys in indyvinmoto. Tonight I had a long ride and decided to stop at a bar to have a beer or two before I headed home for the evening. As I am leaving, a guy that looked just like Sam Elliot comes up to me and starts asking questions about my bike and he tells me about all these cool bikes he has had in the past. Vintage bikes are such a great way to meet new people like this cool guy! As I am talking to "Sam", Harley guy with Hall and Oates - Man-eater blaring full blast, pulls up. He parks his bike and shuts off his 6000 watt stereo and walks over to look at my bike as I am starting it up. I know I am going to catch hell from Patrick for not giving her a tune up yet but I had to kick her over about 5 times to get her to start. This guy looks at me and says "You should have bought American, I don't have to kick my bike to get it to start" Then he says "Foreign piece of shit!" shaking his head and then just stares at me. At that second, I wanted to take that helmet I had in my hand and just bust him in the face with it, but I am guessing that is the reaction that guy was wanting from me (I think I could have taken him). There was so many things I wanted to say, you know the things you normally think of 10 minutes after the fact. I had them all ready to say right then but instead I just nodded at him, got on my bike and rode away. So no, I am not a Harley hater, it is just some of the Jack asses that ride them that I can't stand.

I feel your pain Chris, remember when we went downtown for the evening during GP weekend. We found a spot along the street that five of us could park. I was backing up my 550 trying to get out of the way of other bikers when my left calf touch this guys harley foot peg. I immediately rolled forward and repositioned. I was planning on taking my helmet off and apologizing for coming too close. But instead the guy was giving me the evil eye. So I said "What's your deal?" - guy said you touched my bike and was gruf about it. So as not to let a stink ass alone I starred back and kept looking at him as we were walking away. Because in back of my mind the dude was going to purposely do something to my bike. But yet I wanted to go Taz on him. Not even five minutes later he got on his way overpriced motorcycle and left.

Thats the greatest part about these old bikes we actually get to enjoy them and work on them ourselves. Whereas if they broke down they would have to call one of their buddies to come pick them up and take it to a shop. I love kick starting my bike because i feel more in touch with it. Felkman i wont give you any shit this time because ive been there before kicking the shit out of my bike trying to start it. If those types of guys would ride one of these vintage bikes just once they would know why we ride them and why when we break diwn its actually funny and more enjoyable then having to pull out my cell phone and call someone and be in a pissed of mood

Agreed Bobber. I like the biking community as a whole. Through the years I have met a lot of goods folks.
I like working on machines and the challenge of getting them to work they were designed to or modding them to improve them. Newer cars, planes and bikes do not hold my interest as a mechanic. Don't get me wrong I love advances in technology. But the more techy something gets the more removed from it I feel. To learn a bikes "personality" is fun to me. What makes it work better and what dosen't.
Felkman and Barnfinder, good call on the two idiots. Even if an idiot gets a lesson in social interaction it won't change their IQ. Reacting to their chip on their shoulder will give them what they want. Their not badasses their just asses. What goes around comes right back around.
Kick starting is good incentive to keep a bike well tuned ;D

Since we're telling stories of idiots:
This occurs to me basically any time I stop in Nashville to fuel up my Speed Triple...BP or Speedway, take your pick. It's usually a guy on a Harley.... Them: (in your best hick accent) Is dat one-a-dem ducatis? Me: No, it's a Triumph. Them: Dey still make dem tings? Me: (turning and walking away) yep...
So add another one to the list....Riders who don't realize there's other bike manufacturers out there other than your own...

Heres a good one,the wife and I was riding up to JRS Fri nite, going up 67 running about 60 or so and this young kid on a Harley bagger blows past us watching a tv screen.Thats really what you need to be concentrating on while you are doing 80 plus in traffic, and that sideways NY hat will save your skull during the next commercial. Then coming up to Holt Rd,without warning he cuts from the left lane acrossed 2 lanes and acrossed another 2 lanes of north and south traffic and shoots into Subway parking lot,all while watching his tv,he must feel like the luckiest fu%& on the planet.
