I call this piece DEPRESSION. My friend Eric totally captured the pure exhaust in my mood after I pulled off the interstate. Starting out on our way to Lebanon my header support stay broke a weld and got drug down the road for a brief moment at 70mph before I realized something was wrong and pulled off. I plan on welding it back up tonight to hopefully be back on the road this week. The price you pay to ride a race bike like a daily rider!

I know the feeling,Saturday the wife and I rode about 100 or so miles. It started off with a gas leak 2 blocks from home.It was coming from the overflow, said hell with it and pushed on.Ran pretty good all day,had a couple hard start issues with flooding, then started getting high rpm spittin and poppin, heading home ran out of gas.Luckily I was acrossed the road from a gas station, loud pop before it died.Got gas and luckily it started lost 2 cyls so limped it home on 2 cylinders, got er in the garage and pullud ign cover, burnt points.Sunday installed new points, plugs and condensers, set points and timing, started first kick cold, warmed it up and test rode, good and strong from idle to redline. At least it made it home.

At least it was not a major weld that broke.

Were you able to safety wire it back on and make it down the road?

Safety wire would not have helped. It was a very stressed support that broke, but we did not wait long for a trailer to come get us. The only thing that sucked was jumping on a soft tail to ride for the day. Talk about taking the wind out of your sail!

We hold aircraft together with safety wire. NEVER underestimate the power of safety wire!

Yep, that sounds about right. We need to market / sell that as the Indianapolis Vintage road side repair kit. Make a package deal with a tee shirt. :-)
