hi , i just got this bike witch the title say 1980 xj550r. but the bike has matching vin with title and engine and frame are a match. but the side covers and the front of engine says its a 650 cc motor,, im haveing trouble finding parts , cause they say its not a 550 and a 650 cant fit in the frame. and everything that i can find on the internet shows that it is a xj650h ,, i dont knw if anyone can help. i need to find the intake runners that go from the carbs to the head , there leaking and it has problems running .

I had a 85 rz350 that was titled as an Rz330 until I told them that it was screwed up. My new title came as a rz350.

I always used this site www.powersportspro.com/pages/OemParts/?bnr and in the box on the right choose Type of Bike skip the model and put the part number in it's box and it will show you all the bikes that take the same part number. Great tool for re-building....Dan

thanks guys. i found some intake runners . its running good, still needs some tuneing. still have some idle issues and takeing off problem ,, i will get some pics up soon.. so far i repainted it blue

man iam still haveing problems with these carbs , it just dont want to run wright, i have tryed everything, i have noticed gas comeing out of the air fuel set screws, im tryin to win some on ebay and just put another set on it and hope it runs if , not i gusse ill have to sell this bike i hope i can get 800 out of it , if i sell it

ya we adjusted them at work and we set them a little lower than what the guy that cleaned them had them cause it was over fueling bad,, it still runs rich but im just haveing a lot of problems with it running, barly runs at idle and missing out , slow throtle respose. runs on coke and some times revs up on its own,,,,, help help

now reving on its own is a sign of a vacume leak so i would check the manifold boots for cracks and make sure ur airbox is not cracked.

i have put new boots on it and i can spary around them and no different, it didnt run at all with the old boots

Then id say The carbs Are The problem. Who cleaned them? Because the carbs i have cleaned needed blown out with an air compresser to get The small holes cleaned. I dont use chemical soaks to' clean carbs because they can harm rubber peices I didn't know about. So I use water soak then rinse then carb cleaner then air then reassemble

i had a guy out in shelby county do it he said he cleaned them charged me 80 then i told him i was still havein the problem and he said hed charge me to look at the bike ,, i m a automotive tech i know there something in the carbs i dont need to pay him any more thats why i hope new carbs work other wise im selling it , but i like it i just cant keep put money in it ,

easy fix. may be hillbilly but it works ... electrical tape. wrap em up tight..

ya me pat and karl did that it ran ok, i traded the bike for a rebel , im going to bobber the rebel.
