Bought a rear hoop and I want to weld it to the frame. First of all, any issues welding with all the electronics still attached? I suppose so. What should I do? Disconnect battery? More? Was thinking of getting a cheap flux wire welder and trying it, but don't want to fry anything. Suggestions. Would be better off having someone do it but the bike is not road ready yet and no way to take it anywhere, at least easily. Thanks. Mark

I have been welding for 10 years i have all ways just welded, i have welded exhaust and other things on cars and trucks and have never had a problem, some say to unhook the battery and computer if it has one, but i have never had a problem,,
make sure u remove the paint from were ur going to weld cause u will start a little fire,
and i wood get a flux core wire feed welder you can get a good one for under 250 if ur just useing it for little things,, there are a lot of places to get them,, just look around to get a good prise.. and down town indianapolis is a place that has everything there welders torchs gas anything u will need,

Markp,
Since you are welding directly to the frame which is the main conduit for all grounds in the entire electrical system I would be concerned. Disconnecting the ground wire on the battery, I think is necessary in this case. As far as other electrical components I don't know.

You have to put the ground to the frame and if i were you i would be very careful doing it because i blew one of my coils when i had my bike welded on.

Thanks for the info, I've had enough electrical problems with this bike, don't need another gremlin. Will consider my options...
