Hello - I came across this site on craigslist, and I'm happy to see vintage bike enthusiasts in the Indianapolis area. I live in Columbus, IN and spend most of my time riding the back roads of southern Indiana. I'm currently working on a resto-mod of a 1974 Norton Commando 850 that formally belonged to my father. It hasn't been ridden since 1981 and obviously needs a lot of work. My daily rider is a 2009 Triumph Speed Triple. I'm looking forward to seeing some vintage bikes around! This is what it looked like when I brought it home. It's currently stripped down to the frame. And the daily rider:

A Norton racer replica would be a great stablemate to your Triumph, old and new school, cool.

I'm planning on doing doing a modest cafe. Not too shiny, not too many custom parts. Enough to be in that cafe style, but not enough to know not be able to identify it as a Norton at a glance. I don't want anyone mistaking it for a Bonneville

Yea I'd say a stock cafe would be a great idea for such a classic bike. You definatly don't want to take away from its iconic identity

That Norton motor looks like it will be a lot of fun!! Buy some stock in WD40. What year is your triple? I always wanted one until I rode one and decided to stick with my old bikes.

hogsausage - the Triple is an '09 that I picked up new at Commonwealth Motors in Louisville this past February. It's a great bike and a lot of fun. Logged 8000 miles and a couple of sets of tires in 2011.
garrittpwl - It'll be mostly stock. Fenders may or not be stock (haven't decided yet). Only changes I'm' really planning on are a set of clubman handlebars, rear sets, and a corbin seat. Other modifications will be there for improved reliability and less hassles, but without taking away the look of the bike.
