Hey all.
I have a wife, a daughter, a motorcycle and a problem... how can I take all three to cool shows and what not without bringing two vehicles and being able to spend some time with them? It needs to be cool, it needs to be cheapish... what is the answer? FIRST GENERATION cargo VAN's!!!
So I'm reaching out to people, does anyone know of any Chevy G series vans for sale? I will also consider Ford econoline vans, but prefer a chevy. They also make great swap meet vehicles. :-)

My old "candy for kids" Chevy van. I miss that van. The Ford falcon econolines are way cooler with all the windows and the chrome trim, plus they got better gas mileage. They called us the van clan, I had a 68 G chevy, my friend had a 64 econoline and my other friend had a 65 dodge A-100.

YES!!!! That is what I'm talking about! Could you fit a motorcycle in the back? I had no problem in my chevy fitting a bike in her, I remember I had to take my mirrors off my 1980 bmw in the Econoline, and the dodge hauled a katana around just fine. What fun those are to drive sitting over the front wheel, an engine purring between the seats and a 3 speed on the tree. Nothing better than working on your engine while sitting in the van!

Were the mirrors too tall?

I'm adding 1961-1967 Ford E100's to the list of desirables. :-)

If I had a choice of the three, ford Chevy and dodge, I would for sure go for the ford having driven all three, thousands of miles. The earliest fords were great because they had a 144 6 cylinder that actually got decent mileage. The falcon had cool aluminum trim and all the windows but if you can find a supervan, they had an extended rear section that added another 3 foot or so out the back. My dream van is a 23 or 21 window vw deluxe microbus (not good for hauling anything) but after that, the 61 - 67 econoline is next in line as my favorite vehicle of all time. Good luck on the search. The one thing about driving the vans I had (68 Chevy and 67 vw) I always had a smile on my face as I drove them.

I am definately leaning towards the early ford I love the front, I like the rear. I love ford straight 6's... I will probably have one by spring... summer tops. :-D

I have, but I don't really have a vehicle I'd want to tow it behind... An old van will qualify to be in the show as well as the bike. Besides nobody likes trailer queens. This is different. :-) A cool old van painted the same colors as the bike... I think that would be cool. So does my 8 yr old... she is my biggest fan.

I saw this one... don't have that much saved up yet. I'll have to finish the triumph and then start looking for a van. I hate not being an impulsive 20 something anymore... stupid 'sponcibilities... :-)
Thanks for thinking of me.
