I understand this is a vintage forum but I am looking for a sporty for a chopper project. Would prefer cheap and in good running order.looks don't matter as it will be chopped. Already search CL and those folks are outta their damn minds as far as $$ goes for one of these bikes. Thanks Nate

Yea, people ask way too much for those bike and there are 1000's out there. Mine was snached up by my dad a year after it rolled out the assembly line. He spent a modest $4000 for a 2000 in 2001. I would value it at around $3000 today as it has 50k on it. Solid motor and get's me to where I'm going while rebuilding my Triumph. Problem is guys with that same bike want north of 5k for them. Maybe some are worth it since they have seen very little road time and have fresh engines, some maybe not. Maybe you could check some salvage yards for engines or wrecked bikes. Those motors are really easy to rebuild and hop up.

Oh, I never saw it, but heard it was a mess inside the motor from his description.
