Where'd you pick up those tires? I ordered the old school firestone from Coker tire. It wasn't cheap but it's the look I had to have.

Thanks 550fi! I cut this bike up because is was just short of a basket case. Everything that made it a 71 bonnie was broken, butchered or missing, short of the frame. I too would have a very difficult time cutting up a complete functioning example of an old bike. There are so many basket cases to butcher. Don't kill a survivor,

I agree on the project basket case deal, and it was probably cheaper to build that bike like you are than chase down original parts and try to restore it.I was gonna restore my f1 til I started adding parts up and decided to leave er the way she is and let somone down the road do it after Im gone.

It was going to be expensive to find usable good condition parts, yes. I don't know if it's been cheaper though. I've made a lot of purchases that have turned out wouldn't work with a 71 donor bike. I've kept them though and have a frame and fork and a box of misc bits for the next bike. I think if I had "restored" the stock bike using aftermarket pieces for everything I was missing, I'd have probably been done with the bike a year ago. I've wanted a rigid short chop triumph as long as I can remember though. This bike is the bike that's been in my head for a long time. :-) Thanks again for the interest and kind words.

Hey Nova, I'm a noobie to the forum but was watching your build as a guest for awhile. Nice build. You mentioned May 1 and CWRT. What is that? A ride or show you want to have the bike at? FYI, I've got a 68 triumph frame with a 73 bonnie 750 5 speed motor in it. Rigid, long chopper. Was built way back when but now is a cobbled mess from poor craftsmaship of many owners so I'm keeping the overall look but have to redo everything to bring it back to life and make it dependable and safe. Currently I'm repairing an exploded tranny and worn out primary components. Next I'll be determining if the motor is sound or if it will need rebuilt. Many other things on the list too. Keep up the great work.

Welcome Mickdee and thanks for the kind words! The CWRT is a little weekend camping trip ride cb500bobber came up with. Search the post in the general catagory. It's usually up top. I believe it's called Crazy Weekend Ride Trip... :-)
If you've never messed with an old triumph let me know. There are a handful of quirks that you need to look out for. I think I was bitten by all of them so I want to share that information... it can be expensive and dangerous. PM me if you want to call and chat. I love old Triumphs. There are a few members here that have em. Again thanks for the kind words. You too 550fi!

Well I was able to get my rear fender mounts all tacked up. Thanks to CB500bobber for helping me with the cuts. I was not looking forward to doing that by hand. Photobucket is acting stupid otherwise I'd post a couple of pictures. Should be mostly down hill from here. (famous last words) :-) Nova Photobucket is working now.

As soon as we get some warm weather and free time I'm going to have to ride over. Steve said you are only like 5 minutes from my house!
