Greetings forum! I'm in New Orleans these days, but born and raised in Indy. It brings a smile to my face to be posting here - makes me think of home!
ANYway, I'm jumping on the forum today cause I've just been speaking with an older guy named Richard "Dicky" Thompson. He says he used to roll with the Clarksville, Tenn. Dragons back in the 70's and they'd come up to Indy and Louisville on weekends and have track days and street races. What set me on this path and how I met Richard was trying to find more info and/or scans or copies of old black biker and chopper publications from the era. Soul Spoke, Soul Wheelin, and Black Motorcycle Magazine are three titles I've come up with so far. Richard was featured in an issue of Black Motorcycle Magazine (published out of Florida as I hear it). The issue he was in had a feature on some cat named Crazy Bill who only had one arm and used to smoke all the other racers on his KZ 750.
I'm just chasing threads now, trying to find anyone who may have been around, known these guys, knows any other names, dates, or locations relating to these publications, or just has any stories or any other info from this time.
Appreciate y'all. Cheers, -A
