So I'm kind of new to this forum and haven't posted anything yet so now that my project is winding down to an end I figure I should introduce myself and my bike. This is my first bike that I've owned. I have ridden motorcycles before, but never one of my own. No way I could afford a new motorcycle and like the idea of riding something that is put together by me. I bought this bike as basically a load of parts and have been tinkering on it ever since. I'm still learning a lot about the bike and hopefully will learn a lot more through this forum.

Very nice. What year is it? That tank looks just like my 1978 cb400 I am working on right now.

It's a 1978. I've got 2 tanks. Working on a solo setup so I can swap between two seat and tank combos.

Where did you get that seat? Haven't been able to find too many that work with that tanks shape that look that good.

I made a fiberglass seat pan to fit my bike. It bolts on from underneath. I took the pan and some vinyl to a place by my house called Kent's auto upholstery and they finished it off the way I wanted. It's a tight fit though. I didn't account for the vinyl overlap on the front. I think for the next seat I might try to wrap the pan myself. All in for the pan was probably less than 50 bucks and some trial and error.

Here's a picture of the solo seat pan I'm trying to finish. It needs a lot of work, but at least it shows the fit to the back of the bike.

I might have to pick your brain when I get to that point on my bike. You have done a lot of things to your bike that I want to do for mine.

Did you weld a hoop on the back for the seat?

I didn't personally weld the hoop on the back of the bike. I had a professional handle that because my welding skills are suspect at best.
Pick away. I'd be glad to help however I can.

Nice build toddman !!!!!! Very nice, I wish I was that far along on my bikes, hopefully I will get at least one done by spring, working on a kawasaki h1 500 and an s2 350 cafe style. Keep up the good work.
