Gotta love the smell of fried wires in the morning. I was on my way back from the store not far from home and out of no where my bike just shuts off and nothing. I pull over thinking it's just a fuse (which has happened once before) and pop my side cover and see a tiny bit of smoke. Lucky for me only a 4" section of wire got fried from the battery terminal to a connector, the wire had rubbed on a tab on the battery box next to my tool kit. So now I just got the wire replaced soldered and a new connector crimped and soldered back on. Glad it was only a 20 min fix lol.

Dang man. Lucky indeed. Why did it short out like that? Did the tab break the wire sheathing?

I think the wire just rubbed up against the tab for so long it wore through the insulator.
