Hey everyone. I'm new here and I wish I would have learned about this forum wayyyy sooner than now haha. So, I've got a 72 cb175 that keeps blowing a fuse. Happens completely out of the blue. It's the part labeled as 6 or 8 in this diagram (magnetic harness): www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb175-super-sport-175-k6-usa_model422/partslist/F24.html#results. I've checked all of the connections near it with no visual frays or corrosion. My entire wiring harness is in good shape as well. I figured it may be an issue with the starter solenoid? I'm going at it with a voltage meter today, but I'm semi-clueless where to begin. If anyone has any tips or may have experienced anything like this any help would be great!

If you are blowing the fuse, you are overloading it somehow. First make sure it is the correct amperage. You don't have any aftermarket auxiliary items do you? If so in plug and see if you still blow it.
Since it is random it could be a worn section of insulation exposing the wire somewhere or a uncovered spade / bullet connector coming in contact with ground intermittently.
Put in a good fuse, power the ele system up and without riding the bike move it around, turn the bars lock to lock, bounce it up and down, push on the harness, wiggle wires, operate switches, etc. If the fuse blows during one of those exercises it will at least give you a hint on where to look.

Yeah, no aftermarket auxiliary items on my bike. I just briefly checked the wiring today without avail of any exposures. Dropped a new fuse in and it cut out briefly after trying the electric start. Maybe the starter solenoid could be overloading it? One side of the fuse case was partially melted from it plus the blown fuse. On the diagram I posted, the right side of part #5 was where the fuse melted by the connector, which is connected to the starter solenoid.
Typing this out has given me some insight. I'll go check the voltage.

Yup. It was the starter solenoid. Topped out my voltage meter.
