Hey guys...Chris from east side here. I know a few of you pretty well. Just a reminder to be alert and careful out there while on two wheels....or four for that matter. I was on my way to meet my friend joe and his wife and ride over to rockers on Saturday when my worst nightmare came true. As I approached Arlington on 10th street, a nondescript work van, coming the opposite way, decided to make an immediate left turn right in front of me and I basically hit him head on. I didn't have any time to swerve or lay the bike down. Crazy. At any rate, I'm alive and in Methodist with a very broken left leg. Having surgery #2 tomorrow to screw my bones back together and then hopefully home in a few days to heal. My riding days are over for this season anyway as I won't be walking without crutches for a few months. Moral of story....wear all your gear and keep an eye out. Ride safe. Chris

I was in the Mel having a beer when Joe and his wife came in and were talking about you. They seemed pretty much in shock over your accident. Have a speedy recovery. Time to modify a wheelchair.

Geez. sorry to hear about that Chris. Get well soon. I heard someone had an accident on the way from melody to flat 12. Does anyone know of how that person is doing?

Something about a guide wire on a utility pole right? Glad to hear that he walked away.

I heard that he came in hot over some train tracks and there was no more road on the other side of them.

Thanks guys. Had second surgery yesterday to have everything screwed back together. Pretty uncomfortable right now, but my leg is back in one piece somewhat. Friends are working on tracking down my bike and getting it home. Curious to know what kind of shape it's in, but I'm pretty sure it's toast. It apparently ended up under the offending van.

let me know what i can do to help out on the bike if its salvageable. I did find a 1974 CB550 with 7k miles on it, that needs some TLC i might pick up. Id be glad to sell it to you for what i have in it if i get it.
