Hello all and my apologies in advance to those I am about to disappoint.
In trying to drum up support for this Saturday’s Rolling Bones Vintage Ride taking place at Speed City Cycle, I sent out a mass email to IndyVinMoto, Indianapolis Vintage Proboards, and the Indianapolis Motorcycle Group pushing the event and in doing so, I overstepped my bounds and eluded to the fact that the ride was open to all bikes much to the chagrin of the event sponsor. They really want to keep this a vintage-only motorcycle run.
Again, this misstep is all my fault and I apologize to those who have modern bikes who I may have offended by having to go back on what I made public last week and no one is more embarrassed by this than me. Please, if you harbor any ill will, direct it at me… Not Speed City Cycle, not Ton Up Indianapolis, and most certainly not the Rockers Reunion Event, which is open to all motorcycles regardless of make, model or vintage. It is, and always will be an event open to the entire motorcycling community.
Although, last year’s Rolling Bones vintage ride was open to all, it was the will of the event sponsor to make it more of a special event celebrating vintage motorcycles and to honor those riders who keep them on the road. Since we started planning the 2013 Rolling Bones Ride, It has always been the sponsors intention to have this ride be restricted to vintage bikes only that are 30 years old or older…. The sponsor has never wavered on this stipulation. It was I, Adam Ratcliff, who misinterpreted a few conversations that I had with the sponsor which led me to believe that they had softened their stance on allowing non-vintage bikes to participate in the ride.
They have not… the rules stand as originally stated. Only vintage bikes 30 years old or older (pre 1984) will be allowed to participate in the Rolling Bones Vintage Ride.
Again, I apologize to those I have offended and disappointed by having to go back on what I had alluded to last week. For that, I am truly, truly sorry.
