I picked it up from my uncle a few years ago dis-assembled. He did a good job of organizing the parts so I wouldn't have called it a basket case. The bottom end was already rebuilt and the head and cylinder work had been done so for the engine all I had to do was assemble the top end (which sounds simple enough but I had to make a push-rod for it as well as bore about .040" of the combustion chamber to allow the piston its full travel). Its those problems you have to solve that make it fun. As for the rest of it, it was just the usual cleaning and painting. I also rebuilt the forks and found it funny how similar it was to the new stuff in basic principal, just very simplified. It was a good project and my first taste of restoring vintage motorcycles. Attending the BBC Rally is what sparked the interest.
