Sad to say he'll probably never see it again unless the person who bought it is in the vintage community and finds out. Most of us are good folk and would give the bike back.

I just got off the phone with David, he is still looking.
Funny story. About two months ago at my work. I found a motorcycle fuel tank and carb sitting by the dumpster. Mind you I work in an airport. And the only ones who have access are employees and pilots based there. After some research I learned that the Amal monoblock carb and BSA tank were from the mid 40's. After asking my boss "who would throw away motorcycle parts?" and he told me the pilots name. This pilot is into WWII aircraft and ground equipment. We maintain a BT-13 which is a fixed gear Texan. I talked to this pilot and he bought his from a museum and he wanted it running for air shows. The mechanic said the tank was useless due to it being kreamed 20+ years ago and the slide in the carb was frozen. So thats why I have the origingal tank and carb. As described the tank emblems were not the same as what David had.
Paul
now for some reason I can not find a way to post pictures.
