I got the bike titled and have been doing shake down runs. It was running great on medium runs but the left cylinder developed a miss on longer runs. I pulled the left plug and it was fouled. I checked the left carb mixture needle was clipped to the lowest (richest) groove so I set it to a higher (leaner) groove went on a run and checked the plug. The color looked just fine. I thought problem solved. I made a longer run and she was purring like a kitten. Then about 10 miles from home the left cylinder started to develope a miss again! I turned around and headed home. The left cylinder got so bad it cut out completely. I pulled over and the plug was not fouled but wet. I put in a fresh plug in the left it started firing again but had a miss. I nursed it the rest of the way home. It has a Boyer ignition and that set up fire both spark plugs at the same time. So I swapped the ignition wires to the opposite plugs. The miss followed the wire to the right cylinder. I checked coil wiring and everything looked tidy and secure. Looks like the ignition coil is breaking down after it gets hot. I ordered two 6 volt coils from the Bonneville shop today. I didn't like the idea of both coils firing at the same time but it sure made trouble shooting easier in this case.
