Does Indiana require titles to be notarized when bike purchased? I am buying in OH if that makes any difference. I do not think the last bike I bought required this, but not sure.

There is no mention a title has to be notorized on an out of state purchase on the Indiana BMV site under vehicles purchased out of state. But you can be sure by sending the BMV a message here: myweb.in.gov/BMV/mybmv/Contact.aspxI would ask them directly via the message url above, because once your in line it's too late without a bunch of hoopla.

You don't need it notarized but will need a police vin inspection. The police will give you an affidavit to take to the bmv. Have the seller give you a signed reciept with the vin, make, and year listed on it. Make sure they sign and date the title correctly for transfer as well.

It depends on the title requirements of the state that it's titled in. Not sure if OH has those requirements.
KY titles are required to be notarized (in like 4 spots and it's a huge pain). I learned the hard way.

Is it for the state that it will be titled in buy new owner? Like lets say OH requires titles to be notarized but IN does not. Would it not go by the state that new owner will title it in? I have a request into the BMV. We will see how long they take to respond to me.

I bought a camper in OH about 5 yrs ago and the Indiana BMV required me to go get the title notarized before they would title it in my name.....had a lady at work who is a notary do it for me. Also, just bought a bike in OH back in January....but this time around the seller went ahead and had the title notarized at the OH BMV prior to my arrival....so no issues when I went to title it here.
I'd say it probably depends on how observant the clerk at the BMV is as to whether or not they will require you to get the OH title notarized. If they overlook it, you might be fine. Unfortunately I had a picky person the day I went. Like others said above....you will need to have the VIN check done by the police since it's an out-of-state bike (you can download the form from the BMV website).
Good luck.

Is it for the state that it will be titled in buy new owner? Like lets say OH requires titles to be notarized but IN does not. Would it not go by the state that new owner will title it in? I have a request into the BMV. We will see how long they take to respond to me. If the state that the vehicle is titled in requires a title to be notarized in order to transfer the title to another owner, then yes, when you bring it to indiana, it needs to be notarized for it to be valid. The title will generally state where it needs to be notarized. I went through this with a KY title last year (KY requires notarization). I could not title my vehicle in Indiana until everything was notarized. Call the OH BMV and see if they require the title to be notarized when being transfered to a new owner.

Does it have to be notarized by the originating state? If not my experience with some of the local notaries is that they'll notarize just about anything for 5 bucks

Trying to decide in the next couple days. Have a couple bikes I am looking at that do not have titles. I know a few guys on here have said that it is not a big deal not having a title. My luck is that I would have to spend a bunch of money or not even be able to get a title.

If the OH title requires notarization, Indiana will require it to be there. Without it, they will not validate the transfer.
