From what I recall a few of you have used this... how did it fare? The label says it is at full strength and not to cut it with anything. I plan on using it on my handlebars and risers, wheel hub covers, and a few bolts here and there. Have you ran into any problems with this? Will it dissolve anything other than iron oxide? I hope not!!!! I'll have to take some before and after pics!!!!

before you pull the trigger for just a few small items, try wood bleach, 12 ounces to 15 gallons of water, its only4 bucks. submerge for 48 hours. do not use on aluminum.
But yes Metal rescue is great, it works great for gas tanks and does not hurt paint. But id get the 5 gallon bucket. u can do about 6 gas tanks with it. you use it over and over till it turns black. pm me for more details.

I got a gallon of it a while back for $30 at Menards and for about two weeks just put everything in it to see how it worked. The first thing I tried was my old rusted up chain and pulled it out a day later looking brand new. It's awesome, but if you have the money, I'd say get the 5 gallon like tango said. Worth it.
Also, it's totally safe for anything but rust as far as I know. No paint or chrome came off when I used it. I didn't use gloves either and never had an issue.

Thanks! I already got some this morning.. I was going to go with the oxalic acid but I was wanting to brighten up more than chrome. My Bike really doesn't have much rust on it at all, but where it does have rust it's really noticeable.

just make sure you re use the metal rescue over and over to get your $$ worth. and remember if you soak it too long your metal can turn black.

I used it on an old very rusted ct70 tank and it worked pretty good.

Wow I let some parts soak overnight in my basement and it made the bolts and nuts like new! I moved it upstairs so the solution is at least room temp. I'll snap some pics once it is all said and done.

This stuff works great! I learned of it this past summer (2012) and have done a couple gas tanks and various other parts. I highly recommend that once you get the item out of metal rescue that you clean the part and put some kind of wax to protect the parts from oxidizing again. If you don't they will rust back up really quick...at least that has been my experience.

Haha, we appreciate the help. Are you a retailer? no but i might as well be. Im opening a shop out of my garage soon. Roubenbird - Order the 5 gallon from menards, better bang for your buck, or you can get just the gallons right at the store.

We are also Home Depot (Select Locations), @ undergroundempyre, keep us updated if you do decide to use the product. As for opening your new shop tango let us know if you get it going, do you buy from Menards only?
