So who's got the info on how to restore badges? I'm fixing up an old honda and the tank badges look like shinola...here's what I tried.
1. soaked the badges in laquer thinner to remove all the backround black.
2. sanded the chrome faces on the lettering and spray painted the whole badge metallic silver a.k.a. "Kentucky Chrome".
3. With a very small paint brush, painted the backround with gloss black enamel.
They look pretty good, but the black backround around the letters isn't perfect. I'll probably spray clear on them and call'em finished unless you guys have suggestions....thanks...charlie

That sounds like more work than I have ever put into mine. I bet they look pretty sweet!

i blast them with paint stripper , then i put masking tape over the whole badge and use an exacto knife to cut out just the back ground. then spray paint black, let it dry, Tape again and cut out only the lettering, spray paint white. All this to say, just buy new ones for $100 or there are some nice Repro's someone makes and hand paints for $50 steve
