www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/redbullindianapolisgp/eventinfo/35568-Around-the-City/From 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26 and Saturday, Aug. 27, Monument Circle and South Meridian Street in downtown Indianapolis will be a flurry of engine roars and leather. Motorcyclists will gather to share interests and celebrate the Red Bull Indianapolis GP at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The inaugural Motorcycles on Meridian took place in 2008. The streets of downtown Indianapolis were an ocean of bikes and people, moving in waves. The event is for people with and without bikes. Interested parties with no steel horse of their own are welcome to walk around at this free event and marvel at the impressive choppers and sport bikes. On these two nights in August, the motorcycle culture of Indianapolis is open for everyone to enjoy. The entrance for the 2011 Motorcycles on Meridian is through Monument Circle, cyclists should enter the route from Monument Circle and continue onto Meridian.

I am still surprised how the city has embraced this event, I have riden far and wide and have never came accross such freedom to fill the streets of the capitol. I wish they would throw down the checkered carpet south of the circle lining Meridan St. for decor and also have the state police and IMPD drill teams perform as a gesture of good will.

I do plan on checking out the gnr cover band at the ims Friday night, then heading to meridian st. Partly because I just want to see the ims hold a night event.

Anything that brings $$ to town the city will get behind. Plus it's a really good crowd. If you ever get a chance or maybe you have, visit Milwaukee in early August for Rockerbox. Made it a year ago and was amazing. 1000's of vintage bikes in the middle of the road and you can buy beer on the sidewalk!

Anybody doing this? I have gone the past couple of years. I am wanting to go on Friday since that is the one night I usually get away and get to go to Good Timin hotrods. If anyone is going and wants to meet up before, please say so. Shannon suggested Falcone Powersports having a GP party Friday night before Motorcycles on Meridian. To me, that sounds like a good place to meet up and hang out for a while. Suggestion...... If you are planning on going downtown, and since downtown is such a mess and there is new pavement everywhere. I would suggest to bring something for your kickstand to sit on. Patrick, I think you would be good with woody Chris

If.you go to the track on Friday or sat and park on the back stretch they will give you a free kickstand pad. At least they did last year.

If you had a real kick stand like me you wouldn't need a pad I actually have a whole pile of those in my garage, I just don't have a cool carrier like you do to haul one around. If anyone needs one out of my "parts bin" aka wood pile... let me know!

And that kick stand holder just got even better I painted it so if anyone needs one to go with the kickstand they get from Felkman I am more then willing to make them one custom for a one time fee of 19.95

posted this on the friday night thread too, but here we go......
My buddy Keith and his brother and I are going to ride into Speedway and meet up with BarnFinder and ride into Good Times to meet up with the rest of the vintage riders. If your on the west side and want to meet up hit me up on my cell. I get off work at about 5:15pm meeting at speedway around 6pm to make it to good times by 6:30 or 7 and from there we will head down to "Motorcycles on Meridian" down town.
