well i got those carbs and i put them on but it only runs at about 5,000 rpm and it acts like its back fireing , the idle air mix was 5 truns , i turned them in 1 and half but still the same help me or im going to sell the bike in a week,

I would change them intake boots like we had talked about. With all them cracks in them that isn't good

the ones on it came off a runing bike , and i cant really get new one cause there 400 dollors,,, i just cant put much more money in this thing

1st thing, never trust some guy across the country that you don't know selling on ebay. Yes, they may have been on a running bike, but when was that bike running? 5 - 8 years ago? How well did it run? You don't know. Seriously, why was he selling them off a running bike? I have to agree with the boots as one problem, I can't imagine those are working with those big a*s cracks all over. Another thing I was wondering about while looking at your bike was the gaskets between the boots and the heads?  You say the compression was good on all cylinders, what were your readings? How far off where they from one cylinder to the next? Have you done a complete tune up on the bike? (new plugs, wires, points, adjust the valves, timing)? It could be a wire or plastic cap with a ton of resistance and only firing the plug every so often. There is a bunch it could be, we just need to rule out all the possibilities. I would have rebuilt the new carbs before putting them on, or at least clean all the jets. If it was me, I would start from the beginning with checking the points, timing, plugs, wires, adjust the valves, and rebuild the carbs. If you really trust this person you bought the carbs from, and they are good, there is a good chance, they just need synchronized or there is another problem that is not related to your carbs. |

it has 120 of compression on all 4 , the plugs are new i dont kw if it has points . i dont think the timeing is off or the valves , the thing was it ran real rich with the old carbs even with it at 1 and a haft turns out so i thought it was the carbs, i just dont have a lot of time to take it all apart ,, and it dosent have any leaks ,,,, i dont kw

Do you have a manual? I am not sure if it would have points or not, I know a lot of bikes were changing to electronic ignitions at or around that time. If you have a manual, I would check it out and see. If it has points check them out.
How is the fuel flow to each of the carbs, could there be a kink in a line or carbs starving for fuel from a clogged petcock? Are there caps on all the sync ports? I am just guessing at some things to check! I wish you luck on this.

it has a single feed in and i have a filter on it now , and one of the vacum lines go to the petcock

ok what bike is it? have you done a full tuneup starting with valves and engine with timing. Did you totally clean the carbs?

the valves are ok and the engine it self is ok ,, i got the new carbs apart and found that a flot hold , part of the casting was broke and it was flooding the cylinder,, i took everthing from them and put in mine and it runs better than it ever has just needs some fine tuneing and were home free , the bike is on craigslist , cause im am just dont with it , i going to get it rideable and runing ok , i dont want to sell but if the moneys right ,,,, but it was all in the carbs noting with the egine,,
