For those of us that do not want to take our spoked rims apart this might be an alternative. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek1mRhEIbHA&feature=plcpMight be hard to get good coverage over all the spokes, but should work for the rim. I might try this on my cafe build this winter.

I painted my CB750 spoke rims without removing the spokes years ago using electrostatic at my dad's shop. It worked great and covered everything. I painted the frame that way too.

I've heard of this but never seen it in action. Is the paint special? What did you use to create the charge? Did you do it this way because is sticks to the chrome better?

Sorry Steve plan on keeping it, lol. I have been reading the forums at dipyourcar.com. It sounds like it stays on really well. Guys are even doing there whole car in it. The good thing about is if you don't like it or want to change colors just peal it off. The cans only cost $7-$9. I am thinking about trying it on the rims of my car. That is how I initially found out about this stuff. I was looking at doing something with my car rims.

There are a lot of ways to explain te process but Wiki does a good job of it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrostatic_coatingI don't like painting over chrome at all. It's prefered to sand blast it before painting but if you must I would acid etch it like you would with aluminum. I blasted my rims before I painted them.

Well did the emblems on my new car. It turned out great and was so easy to do. Next I will be doing the rims. I am defiantly going to do the rims on my bike this winter. Also thinking of doing the whole bike in the plasti dip. Each year I can peel it and change up the colors. Before: After:
